Alfred University advanced not one but two riders to 2013 IHSA Nationals in the individual open reining division, making the Saxons the only team
nationwide to accomplish this. From left to right are Derek Partridge, Head Coach Harry Hurd, Lexi Buckheit and assistant coach Kristen Kovatch. Partridge had been reserve champion at the
Pomona, California semifinal on March 23rd while Buckheit had been third. On May 4th Buckheit was out of the ribbons but Partridge was seventh in the division at Nationals. Partridge
repeated the ribbon a day later in the individual AQHA High Point Open Rider division. Through six Zone 2, Region 1 western shows this season Partridge has a 62-57 lead over Buckheit in the
open rider standings though Buckheit was ahead earlier in the season.
Adelphi University did not compete in an IHSA show for over 15 years when they re-appeared to compete in the final 2012-13 Zone 2,
Region 4 show. At that final spring show Adelphi scored 24 points to finish third for the day (at least eight teams competed).
A few weeks later IHSA Founder and Executive Director Bob Cacchione (on far right) posed with most of the Adelphi team which was at Zone 2 Zones on April 7th in
order to help out.

Region 2: One of the shows Cazenovia College won on the way to their 2009-10 season hunter seat
Region Title came on October 25, 2009 at Lehman Farm. The surprise of the day was the team which came within a
point of defeating Cazenovia, and the fact that the runner-up team came so close with only six riders on their

Region 3: Six riders won individual undergraduate western classes at 2006 IHSA Nationals in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. One of them
came from a school with a history of success in reaching the post-season... Full
Region 4: Though they may have won an IHSA since, a specific Region 4 school had never won a show prior to February 17, 2008
when they finally claimed high point team honors. The coach of this team at that time submitted her account of the show which her team also
Region 5: On March 20, 2005 Molloy College and C.W. Post College co-hosted the final Zone 3, Region 1 show of the regular season. So what does this have
to do with Zone 2, Region 5? At that time Zone 3, Region 1 contained all the Long Island Schools and three Connecticut schools. And one of the Connecticut schools was
trying to capture their first-ever Region Title... Full
