She has seen Bears, Baboons and Zebras running loose in her backyard! During the off-season Destiny Sheard of Rowan University (on left) resides in Jackson, New Jersey, famous for being home to a Six Flags Amusement Park known as Great Adventure. This park has a safari park within with all sorts of animals not usually found roaming the streets of suburbia. However these animals get loose more often than one might think. Sheard was safe from danger at Regionals in Norristown, Pennsylvania on March 22nd, and she and Rowan head coach Ariel Frattaroli posed for this picture after Sheard survived a test to place second in intermediate over fences and earn a trip to Zones 16 days later.

West Chester University undergraduate riders accounted for three top-two placings at Regionals held late Friday on March 22nd. However only one of the three Golden Rams won her class and that rider is Jordan Creamer (on right). Seen here with head coach Wendy Myers, the senior from Pittman, New Jersey won the walk-trot division to advance through to Zones in Bloomsburg, Pennsylvania on April 7th.
Second to Creamer in walk-trot that day was Morgan Blickley (pictured), who became the first rider in the brief history of the Shippensburg University equestrian team to advance to an IHSA Zones show. Shippensburg showed IHSA for the first time in the fall of 2015 and Blickley - a junior from Mechanicsville, Pennsylvania - will be the first member of the Raiders to compete in an official IHSA event in the month of April her next time in the ring.
Seen here with some near and dear members of her family back on opening day, Emily Suhr (center) would become the only Millersville University rider to compete at Regionals on March 22nd. From Grantville, Pennsylvania, Suhr closed out her sophomore year with a fourth in walk-trot-canter. Seven riders competed in WTC and the small size of the division was one of many factors that helped Regionals run to a short two hours and thirty-nine minutes.
More than one rider competing at Region 2 Regionals could claim there is an amusement park in her hometown. Lucy Gross of Penn State University's Harrisburg Campus lives in the 'sweetest place on earth' as Hershey, Pennsylvania is known. Seen here holding "Peppa" after placing second in novice flat on opening day, Gross was one of a small number of freshmen to qualify for Region 2 Regionals. Gross was out of the ribbons on March 22nd in the largest class of the day, novice fences (13 riders showed in the division).
From Helsinborg, Sweden, Arcadia University senior Matilda Nilsson (on left) has the distinction of being the last rider to compete under long-time Arcadia head coach Amber Jewell (on right). Nilsson was the only Arcadia rider at Regionals, showing in both hunter seat novice divisions. Her fifth in novice flat closed the book on the long IHSA run of retiring coach Jewell, who was an undergraduate riding for Bucks County Community College nineteen ago if this writer recalls correctly.
The Alumni who starred at 2019 Region 2 Regionals is Katherine "Katie" Diaz (pictured). The 2017 West Chester University survived in both alumni classes, winning the alumni fences and placing second to former University of Findlay rider Erika Kurtz (not pictured) in alumni flat.
She started riding in the IHSA as a member of High Point University in North Carolina but spent the majority of her college career riding for Delaware Valley University. From Northford, Connecticut, Riley Stone of the Aggies (center) poses with her parents after placing second in individual intermediate on the flat at Regionals on March 22nd. The senior is one of six Del Val riders to advance individually to Zones on April 7th (one of the six, Alexis Martin, earned two individual rides). The Aggies will also have a full team at Zones for an eleventh consecutive season.
