IHSA ZONE 3 - REGION 4

Photo
Seen here with her parents at the December 2023 Tournament of Champions invitational in Long Valley, New Jersey, Taylor Pruitt of Delaware Valley University (center) is qualified for 2025 Regionals in both limit divisions. The junior from Mount Laurel, New Jersey won her limit fences on October 6th to point out of the division while a third in limit flat on October 27th meant intermediate rides were in Pruitt's future for the rest of the regular season. And this writer would like to mention that the food concession at the Aggie's home show on March 9th included pulled pork which had been smoked for over 13 hours by Pruitt's Father (on left). It was the best pulled pork outside the Southern United States this writer has ever tasted!

Another Region 4 rider to point out of both limit divisions in 2024-25 is Ava Gustafson of Lafayette College (on left, with head coach Kelly Poff). A sophomore from Sayville, Long Island, Gustafson won her limit flat class on opening day (the October 6th Lehigh show) while a second in limit fences at the Leopard's October 20th home show meant two rides at Regionals on March 22nd. When this photo was taken on March 9th Gustafson would soon receive a blue ribbon for winning her section of intermediate flat.
Photo
From Bloomsburg, Pennsylvania, Rachel Marino of Bloomsburg University (on left) poses with her Mother during the season opener on October 6th. It was Marino's IHSA debut, and the freshman was second in both of her limit classes. Marinos' red ribbons helped the Huskies take reserve high point team honors, scoring 27 behind only Delaware Valley's 32. Fast-forward to the spring of 2025 and Marino has qualified for Regionals in limit flat.

Yet another Region 4 rider qualified for Regionals in both limit divisions is Klaudia Marcisz of Rutgers University. Seen here with "G.Q." during the March 9th Delaware Valley show the sophomore from Woodbridge, New Jersey pointed out of both limits during the November 10th Moravian show which was the sixth and final fall show. Marcisz (pronounced "Mar-chesh") had her best day of the fall at the October 12th University of Scranton show, placing first in limit fences and second in limit flat.

We are certain there are Region 4 riders going to Regionals in divisions other than the limits. But here again is another rider qualified in limit flat and fences! She is Grace Allen, a Delaware Valley University junior from Ottsville, Pennsylvania who is seen here at the December 2, 2023 Tournament of Champions invitational in Long Valley, New Jersey. Both times Allen won a limit class to move up a level, earning a blue ribbon in limit fences on October 12th and another in limit flat on October 27th. Meanwhile the Aggies have won at least seven hunter seat shows through March 9th.

Another rider headed to Regionals in limit fences is Margot Germack of Lehigh University (on right). Seen here with Mountain Hawks coach Patrice Kane (on left) and "Bach" on March 9th the junior from Birmingham, Michigan pointed out of the limit jumps with a second at the October 27th Rutgers show. Lehigh scored 28 points at Del Val on March 9th, taking reserve high point team honors behind the hosts with 36.

On October 27th Eva Kierstead of the University of Scranton (on right, with Royals coach Elly Culotta) won her novice equitation class to qualify for Regionals in the division. A senior from Phoenixville, Pennsylvania, Kierstead is one of at least seven Region 4 riders to have pointed out of novice through March 9th.

One rider who is close to pointing out of the intermediate divisions is Nya Barry of Alvernia University (on left). Seen here with head coach Eryn Ziegler, the freshman from Collegeville, Pennsylvania won her first IHSA blue ribbon at the November 2nd Bloomsburg show. Barry won her intermediate fences that day.

This photo was taken at Tryon International Equestrian Center in Mill Spring, North Carolina last May 5th. Delaware Valley University western coach Andrew Wolf (on left) poses with Brooke Wolfinger of the Aggies, who rode in two western classes at 2024 IHSA Nationals at Tryon. Wolfinger was ninth in individual ranch riding on May 3rd, a day in which she also competed in individual limit over fences. Now a senior, Wolfinger has qualified for 2025 Regionals in four different individual classes (two English and two Western). Wolfinger also finished on top of the region's Western Open Rider Standings. And on top of that the Delaware Valley Western Team won the region by a single point over Penn State (State College or Main Campus as it is known). It is safe to say Wolfinger (whose Mother Amie is the Bloomsburg University head coach) will have more than a ride or two over the course of Western Semifinals in Logan Township, New Jersey March 15th and 16th as well as several rides at hunter seat Regionals a week later.
