IHSA ZONE 3 - REGION 4

Photo
The horse in this photo is known simply as "Miss." Holding Miss is Isaac Holt of Rutgers University, a sophomore from Sparta, New Jersey who rode Miss to a third in novice equitation at the September 24th University of Scranton show. By the end of the fall Holt was one of six Rutgers hunter seat riders to have qualified for Regionals. Holt ran off a string of three consecutive red ribbons in novice to point up on November 12th.

Seen here with "Aryan" at that same Scranton show are Isabel Porter (on left) and Olivia Doyle of Lehigh University. While Porter qualified for Regionals with a third in limit fences at the October 23rd Alvernia show Doyle was high point rider at the March 5th Lafayette show while also pointing out of intermediate flat. Doyle was first in the intermediate flat class made up of ten riders while also placing second over the intermediate jumps. No other rider earned as much as a first and a second that day. A junior from Yardley, Pennsylvania, Doyle now needs six points to qualify in intermediate fences.
Photo
Only three Lebanon Valley College riders have competed so far in 2022-23 but two are Regionals-bound and a third needs only seven points. One of the two is Hope Davis (on left, with her Father). A sophomore from Lititz, Pennsylvania, Davis won her novice equitation class at the October 16th Bloomsburg show to get within a point and then broke the 36-point barrier with a fifth at the Alvernia show a week later to point out of the division.

Through March 5th Elizabeth Hirsch (pictured) is one of two Bloomsburg University hunter seat riders qualified for Regionals. A senior from Sandyston, New Jersey, Hirsch's blue ribbon in novice equitation at the November 12th East Stroudsburg show put her over the top and on to Regionals slated for April 2nd in Bloomsburg, Pennsylvania no less! Teammate Chloe Sullivan (not pictured) placed second in limit flat on March 5th to join Hirsch at Regionals. Sullivan is one of five Huskies to qualify for 2023 Western Regionals, having pointed out of both open divisions.
Photo
The University of Scranton has a new coach this spring and she is Elly Culotta (on right). Culotta is seen here with Victoria Fiorini of the Royals, who was the first Scranton rider to qualify for Regionals in 2022-23. Fiorini won her introductory equitation class at the October 15th Rutgers show to point out of the division. Culotta saw Eva Fine (not pictured) win her limit flat class on March 5th to become the second Royal of the season to point out and the first since taking over as coach. Scranton will host the final regular season show of 2022-23 on March 26th, to be held at Lake Equestrian Center in Lake Ariel, Pennsylvania just as was the case way back on September 24th.
Photo
Kutztown University also has a new coach mid-season and she is Christine Farrell (on right). Farrell is seen here with Charlotte Weiss, a freshman from Doylestown, Pennsylvania who was second in her limit flat class on March 5th when this photo was taken. Paige Dolon (not pictured) was also a red-ribbon winner that day, with her second in the previous section of limit flat making her the first Golden Bear to qualify for Regionals this season.
Photo
Moravian College was also in search of their first Regional Qualifier on March 5th. Emma Yanowsky (pictured) won her novice equitation class to take the honor. Seen here with "Kodiko" at the September 24th Scranton show Yanowsky is a senior but only started riding with Moravian in the spring of 2022. Yanowsky was a virtual student at Bucks County Community College prior to that time. Yanowsky helped the Greyhounds score 25 points on March 5th, good for third place that day.
Photo
Alvernia University is still looking for their first regional qualifier of 2022-23 but three Golden Wolves could point out in their next ride including Abbie Miller (on right). A junior from Blandon, Pennsylvania, Miller is seen here with Alvernia coach Eryn Ziegler at the October 10, 2021 Lafayette show. Miller was fifth in limit flat on March 5th of this year and now needs seven points to extend her season to April 2nd.
Photo
Wilkes University head coach Carrie Kieczkajlo-Sisson (center) poses with Autumnn Bullek (on left) and JoEllen Spencer of the Colonels at the March 5th Lafayette College show. So far in 2022-23 only Bullek and Spencer have shown for Wilkes, with Spencer closer to qualifying for Regionals. A fourth in novice equitation on March 5th has Spencer only 11 points away from pointing out of the division. Bullek had the better ribbon on the 5th, placing third in introductory equitation.
Photo
Jennifer Haines of Rutgers University (on right, with her Mother) rode for the College of Charleston for two seasons prior to transferring to the school located in New Brunswick, New Jersey. A senior from Millstone Township, New Jersey with one more semester in the fall of 2023, Haines has placed third or higher in each of her flat classes this season. During the fall Haines earned a first, two seconds and a third in limit flat while qualifying for Regionals in the division. Haines was third in her intermediate flat debut on March 5th shortly before this photo was taken. The Scarlet Knights scored 23 points at the Lafayette show to move within three points of Bloomsburg for second place overall.
Photo
During the fall six Lafayette College riders qualified for Regionals (one doing so in two different divisions) including Meredith O'Neill (pictured). A senior from Center Valley, Pennsylvania, O'Neill is one of six Region 4 riders going into March 5th who qualified in the novice division. The Leopards hosted on March 5th at Top Notch Equestrian Center in Phillipsburg, New Jersey, utilizing a newly-constructed indoor (Top Notch is also the name of Lafayette head coach Kelly Poff's IEA team). With the 'Pards prevailiing 30-26 over Lehigh that day Lafayette has now won four of the seven 2022-23 Region 4 shows, winning every other show (shows 1, 3, 5 and 7) and finishing no lower than third.
