For the first time in program history Oregon State University qualified both a full western and a full english team to IHSA Nationals. While the Beaver's western team was making their fifth consecutive Nationals appearance, 2010 marked the first time the Oregon State hunter seat team had survived Zones. "Let's see if we can fit into the picture with all of the neat stuff Jason won!" From left to right are Utah State University Coach Colette Tebeau, Aggies riders Kelsey Wilson, Zachary Schmidt and Jason Romney, and IHSA Founder and Executive Director Bob Cacchione. While Schmidt was fourth in individual intermediate western and Wilson was third in individual novice western it was Romney who stole the show at 2010 IHSA Nationals. Romney won the NRHA-sponsored individual open reining on May 8th to become one of four IHSA riders automatically qualified for the NRHA Derby in Oklahoma City on June 26th, then won the Individual AQHA Trophy as the IHSA's top open western rider for 2009-10 the next day.
