It was their third time at IHSA Nationals with a full Western team this decade. 2009 Region 2 high point team Black Hawk College scored 17 points in the western team competition at 2009 IHSA Nationals, two more than their previous best of 15 at 2004 Nationals. Black Hawk finished third overall, posing for this picture at the conclusion of IHSA Nationals in Murfreesboro, Tennessee on April 26th.

Members of both the St. Mary of the Woods Western and English teams pose in the winner's circle at 2009 IHSA Nationals on April 25th. Since Zone 9 was created prior to the 2002-03 season the Pomeroys have captured all seven Zone 9, Region 1 western team titles and in 2008 captured their first-ever hunter seat region championship.
