IHSA ZONE 6 - REGION 2

Twins Taylor Schuh (on left) and Madyson Schuh were both freshmen and members of the University of Dayton equestrian team when this photo was taken at the November 16, 2024 Otterbein show. But when we received the Region 2 list of 2025-26 Regional Qualifiers it showed that Taylor was now at Ohio State University and going to Regionals in intermediate fences. Madyson was still a Dayton Flyer and qualified in limit flat.

From Cleveland, Ohio, Ali Ruple of Ohio University has been on our Region 2 page for many months with a photo from 2025 IHSA Nationals during which she competed in the individual introductory equitation division. But we had an earlier photo of Ruple from that same November 2024 Otterbein show we had yet to use, and since Ruple qualified for 2026 Regionals in novice equitation we thought we would use it now. The Bobcats finished third in the Region 2 team standings behind only second place Ohio State and an Otterbein team which has now won nine Region Titles in a row.

Speaking of Otterbein University the Cardinals were 2026 Zone 6 Zones Champions by a 46-38 score over Miami of Ohio. At 2026 IHSA Nationals Otterbein finished fifth with 27 points, only a point behind fourth place University of Lynchburg. Otterbein was one of a select few to score at least one point in each of the eight hunter seat team classes. Three points came via Tia Thivener (pictured), a freshman from Orient, Ohio who was seventh in team novice equitation on May 2nd. A reminder: Since 2019 the points system is different at IHSA Nationals events, with ten points awarded for first, eight for second, seven for third down to a half point for tenth place. Therefore Thivener's seventh place ribbon did in fact add to the Cardinal's score.
