IHSA ZONE 6 - REGION 2

"The Coach did it, so why can't I?" Stacey Mahlmeister (on left) rode for Georgia Tech at 2007 IHSA Nationals in the individual AQHA Trophy division but did not place inside the top ten. A year later Mahlmeister again qualified for the Trophy class, but this time as a member of the University of Louisville. This makes Mahlmeister the first person to compete for the trophy with two separate schools since her current Head Coach Rusty Rea (on right) did so for both Louisville (in 2002 and 2003) and Middle Tennessee State (in 2004 and 2005). Mahlmeister faired much better at 2008 Nationals, placing fourth overall in the AQHA Trophy class.

From Bannockburn, Illinois, University of Kentucky freshman Ali Cibon (center) won the Team Intermediate over Fences division at 2008 IHSA Nationals in Burbank, California on May 9th. The Wildcats went on to become the first-ever school from Zone 6, Region 2 to capture the hunter seat IHSA National Championship, scoring a 21-18 win over three schools including a Findlay team that had beaten them at Zones four weeks earlier.
