IHSA ZONE 6 - REGION 2

From Powell, Ohio, Ellie White of Ohio State University (pictured) finished her junior year by placing third in individual intermediate on the flat at 2025 IHSA Nationals in Mill Spring, North Carolina last May 2nd. A blue ribbon winner in the same division at Zones on April 5th, White was the first Region 2 rider to earn a ribbon over the three day Nationals event.

Only two Region 2 riders not on the Otterbein roster qualified through to 2025 IHSA Nationals, with the other being Ali Ruple of Ohio University (pictured). From Cleveland, Ohio, Ruple won the individual introductory equitation class at Zone 6 Zones in Oxford, Ohio last April 5th to advance through to IHSA Nationals in the division.

The best ribbon any Region 2 rider took home from 2025 IHSA Nationals was a second awarded to Maya Samlan of Otterbein University (on horse). From Mount Prospect, Illinois, Samlan is seen here in the winner's circle at the Tryon International Equestrian Center indoor on May 3rd after earning reserve champion honors in the team novice equitation class. This was a rare case of a rider placing higher at Nationals than at Zones, during which Samlan was third. Samlan helped the Cardinals win Zones by a 43-41 score over host Miami of Ohio and her red ribbon on May 3rd at Tryon meant Otterbein and Miami of Ohio both scored 17 points which technically would be a tie for twelfth if team ribbons were awarded past tenth place.
