Individual open on the flat was the final class held at 2018 Zone 5 Zones in Hardeeville, South Carolina. At that point not one single undergraduate from Region 4 had placed in the top two to advance to IHSA Nationals. Chelsea Runacres of Trinity University would break that pattern. A senior at the time, Runacres (on right) was second in individual open flat on April 7th to go forward to Nationals in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. From Seattle, Washington, Runacres is seen here with Trinity head coach Stephanie Cook at the Pennsylvania Farm Show Complex on May 3rd where she finished out her four years with a ninth in the division in a field of 16 riders entered.
