Zone 5, Region 3 lost a fall 2022 show weekend due to hurricane Ian, and as a result only two shows took place prior to the winter break. Both were hosted by the College of Charleston, with the Cougars besting the University of South Carolina (Columbia) and Wofford 39-26 on November 12th but falling to the Fighting Gamecocks 45-31 on the 13th. Kathryn McCarthy (pictured), a Charleston sophomore from New Canaan, Connecticut leads the Region 3 open rider standings with 19 points. McCarthy has excelled over the jumps, going undefeated in open fences over the first two shows.
