For the first time this decade Mount Holyoke College and the University of Massachusetts at Amherst were involved in a close race for Region 3 high point hunter seat team after the first of the year. A UMass 37-30 win over Mount Holyoke on February 28th gave the Minutemen a one point lead. However the next day Mount Holyoke was a 46-36 winner to move ahead by nine. The Lyons won ten classes at Bonnie Lea Farm, including a first for Eliza Mutz (pictured). A junior from Palo Alto, California, Mutz won the first class of the day, open fences, to set things in motion for Mount Holyoke. Then on March 7th, the score was the same as one week earlier. However this time the host Lyons were the 37-30 winner over UMass. This made the final margin 337-321 in favor of Mount Holyoke, which has now won 17 hunter seat Region Titles in a row.
